Dear LAA Members,
The LAA wishes all our members a happy new year and we hope that things have started well for you so far.
In late 2022 the LAA’s AGM took place and as a result, there was a change of directors on the Board. A number of Directors stood down and we thank them for their years of service. They were Joe Sullivan, Rita Morrison, Anthony Kingsley and Paul Newbery.
The LAA Board is now:
Chair – Ray Hayes of SPL
Treasurer – John Calleja of Gouge
Secretary – Ahmed Abeid of Simba
Warwick Brown of Princes
Anthony Roberts of CLS
Mike Bernath of Alsco
Rhys Johnson of Top Centre
For the past week the CEO has been in Queensland visiting members and potential members. A number of themes and common ground issues were evident between laundries in Southern Queensland. Clearly there is great optimism as demand is very strong for hygienic cleaning across all elements of laundry services. Another theme was the willingness to see all their business costs accurately captured and incorporated into their pricing. It is particularly important that every laundry business factors in the costs including depreciation of assets, in order to look after their ability to replace critical equipment. We must be in a position to fund automation, robotics, and an innovative future.
The LAA will continue our Webinar program in 2023 and members are encouraged to include their operations, engineering, administration or other staff as is relevant for each Webinar. More information is provided below.
Recordings of previous webinars and points of contact for those webinars are available through the Members Only part of the website, or via previous LAA emails.
Members should also be aware that the LAA is planning a conference in 2024, around Easter time. That conference will have a theme of automation and robotics. Location and specific days will be advised well in advance of the event.
Finally, we remind and ask members to immediately report union inquiries, attendance and in fact all activities. Please let the CEO know via ceo@laundryassociationaustralia.com.au or initially to 0410 976 919 and then by email.
On behalf of the Board, the LAA wishes your business and your team all the best for 2023.
Luke Simpkins
